Summary

S & M Systems Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst to lead the financial planning, governance and delivery of strategic technology initiatives across our growing software and digital consulting business.

This commercially focused role suits a finance professional with strong financial modelling and stakeholder management experience, working closely with senior leadership, software engineers, solution architects and clients to keep enterprise software and digital transformation projects commercially robust and financially controlled.

You will play a key role in ensuring projects are commercially robust, financially controlled and delivered in accordance with agreed timelines, while providing strategic financial insight to internal stakeholders and clients.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for
• 
Gathering, analysing and documenting business requirements for finance transformation and strategic technology projects.

Developing business cases, commercial models and investment appraisals to support strategic decision making.

• Producing process maps, functional specifications and target operating model designs for finance systems and process change.

• Supporting the preparation of financial forecasts, budgets, cost models and scenario analyses for major projects.

• Producing management information, board reports and executive presentations to support governance and decision making.

• Monitoring project financial and delivery performance, identifying risks and issues, and recommending mitigating actions.

• Working closely with project managers, finance teams, technical teams and senior stakeholders to ensure solutions are commercially viable and meet business needs.

• Supporting financial due diligence, commercial assessments and business transformation initiatives where required.

• Designing and improving financial reporting processes, governance frameworks and management controls.

• Supporting project planning, resource allocation and financial reporting across multiple concurrent initiatives.

• Supporting continuous improvement through automation, data analysis and process optimisation.

 

Qualifications and Experience

A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Business, Accounting or another relevant quantitative discipline is desirable but not essential.
The successful candidate will have experience working within finance, corporate advisory, consulting or project management environments supporting technology-enabled business transformation.
Experience in financial modelling, corporate finance, M&A support or strategic consulting would be highly advantageous.
 
Essential Skills and Exerience 

Advanced financial modelling skills, including forecasting, scenario analysis and investment appraisal.

• Strong commercial awareness and financial analytical capability.

• Excellent project management and organisational skills across multiple concurrent workstreams.

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, able to explain complex financial information to technical and non-technical audiences.

• Advanced Microsoft Excel; familiarity with Power BI, Tableau or similar BI tools is an advantage.

• Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.

• Proven experience managing complex financial or business transformation projects, ideally within finance, corporate advisory, consulting or project management environments supporting technology-enabled business transformation.

• Experience producing executive-level reporting for senior stakeholders and supporting business cases, budgeting and commercial decision making.

• Desirable: experience within an IT, software or digital consulting environment; exposure to finance transformation or ERP implementation; mergers, acquisitions or corporate transactions; familiarity with Agile or Prince2 delivery methodologies.
